Occupational Health and SafetyUNSW's aim is to provide a safe, healthy and secure learning and working environment for all students, staff, contractors and visitors. To achieve this goal, everyone has a shared responsibility for ensuring that their actions do not adversely affect the health, safety and welfare of themselves or others. The university has laid out these goals in its OHS policy. The policy applies to all staff, students, visitors and contractors of UNSW. The GSBME is committed to providing the highest standard of Occupational Health and Safety [OHS] to fulfill our duty of care. This will be achieved through the compliance with the UNSW Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS). An OHSMS is a set of plans, actions and procedures to manage health and safety in the workplace. The GSBME OHS management system will be documented, implemented, maintained, reviewed and communicated to all staff, students, visitors and contractors within GSBME who are all required to work within this OHSMS. TrainingAll Laboratory staff/supervisors and long term laboratory students should/must attend the UNSW 'Laboratory Safety Awareness" conducted by OHS Coordinators of Engineering and Science. You can enroll online. Other UNSW OHS training is available at no charge to UNSW staff and students. |
